Keep refrigerated in a sealed container.
Your best results will happen with the best seeds. I like to use organic pelleted seeds as a rule. It’s much easier to plant and the coating promotes germination. I recommend buying from respected seed sources like Baker Creek, Harris Seeds, Johnny Seeds and Wild Boar Tomatoes.
Having soil in your germination mix is not necessary. Sifted high quality compost will work as well but being free of weed seeds and pathogens is very important. Nutrients are crucial after first sign of germination.
Vermiculite helps maintain an otherwise tricky moisture level that seeds need for steady and reliable germination. Be careful because it not healthy to inhale the dust that comes when working with vermiculite.
Consistent temperature and moisture levels. Fluctuations affect the germination greatly.
